The Ghana Meteorological Agency on Friday rendered an apology to the Nation for their inability to warn Ghanaians of the approaching rain storm early enough for precautions to be taken before the Independence Day celebrations.

A statement signed by Group Captain Stephen Komla (rtd), Director-General of the Agency said the agency apologise, especially to the President and the school children who were brutally drenched by the rain on the parade.

It said managements attention was drawn to the fact that some personnel from the agency granted various interviews on the rainfall.

The statement explained that management of the agency wished to inform the general public that those people were not on duty and could therefore not have known the details of what the actual situation was.

The personnel were not authorized to speak about the issue on behalf of the agency rather, they spoke as individuals, it added.

It said management disassociated itself from these unwarranted comments, some of which were rude and out of place.

Management wishes to assure the people of Ghana that all technical needs of the agency are before government and will be addressed at the appropriate time, the statement said.
