The most awaited moment for which the fashionistas world over were waiting with bated breath materialised when the US First Lady Michelle Obama walked in a no-nonsense, strictly business like Thom Browne navy coat and dress on Barack Obama’s second inauguration as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Like always, the first lady wooed everyone with her apt choice of wardrobe for the occasion. Fitted from top, the navy and cobalt coloured, front-pleated outfit, designed by the US-American fashion designer, was a perfect balance of style and seriousness, very appropriate for the official ceremony.
For the inauguration ball, Mrs. Obama once again chose a Jason Wu design, like she did four years ago when President Obama was first sworn in 2009.
By choosing a luxe chiffon and velvet shimmery red halter gown with a keyhole neckline, the first lady brought the Manhattan-based 30-year-old designer back to limelight again.
In 2009, for Obama’s first inauguration ball, the first lady wore a white chiffon one-shouldered piece designed by then upcoming Taiwanese-born designer Jason Wu, who became popular overnight.
