Director of Public Relations at the Ghana Armed Forces Col. Mbawine Atintande has promised to investigate an alleged assault on a police officer by some soldiers of the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho.
The police officer, Corporal David Dzokoto is alleged to have been assaulted by some soldiers following an argument over a parking space.
The soldiers said the police officer was drunk and behaved irresponsibly.
But speaking on Joy FM’s Super morning show, Col. Mbawine Atintande explained that the police officer’s car was in the path of a military convoy which was returning from training.
He emphaisied that the policeman was not in uniform and that could have partly caused the incident.
The soldiers admitted heckling Cpl. Dzokoto but Col. Atintande said it was unacceptable for them to do that, saying they probably used the word, heckling, without addressing their minds to its actual meaning.
