President John Evans Atta Mills, last Saturday, surprised the large crowd of people who gathered in the spacious Adisadel College Dining Hall, when he described an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, as a political gentleman.
"I have known Alan as a gentleman for quite a long time and I will like to know what he did when he was a student here so that I can use it against him during campaign time since he is my opponent," President Mills said drawing thunderous laughter from the huge crowd.
This was after Sir Dr. Sam Jonah the Guest Speaker and alumnus of Adisadel College had narrated his seven years experience at the school.
It is believed that Mr. Kyerematen was a student of President Mills at the University of Ghana, Legon and that the President might have observed his gentility during those days during his political struggles to lead the country.
President Mills' comment comes a few weeks ahead of the crucial minority NPP national congress to elect a presidential candidate for the 2012 general elections.
President Mills' testimony on Alan may mean he has endorsed Alan ahead of the NPP congress slated for August 7, this year.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kenneth Ohene Agyepong, has donated three salon cars to the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Kwesi Kroofi Graham, Mr. Gyamfi, a retired teacher, and Mr. Akator, a retired French teacher, for their contributions to the development of the school.
The total cost of the vehicles is US$54, 000, as students and well-wishers who attended the centenary celebration hailed the MP for showing appreciation to the teachers for their contributions.
