President Mills has promised to improve the Volta Lake Transport System.
He said government is procuring new ferries to replace the worn-out ones.
President Mills was speaking to journalists after going on an expedition on the lake as he tours the Eastern region.
President Mills said “we have placed an order for new ferries and pontoons so we can avoid the frequent breakdown [of the old one].”
The President also stressed the need for maintenance of projects when he commissioned a one-storey girls’ dormitory for the Donkorkrom Agric Senior High School in the Afram Plains.
President said he would want to see the building in a very good shape when he returns later to inspect how well it has been maintained, adding “that it will also give us the encouragement to be able to provide more and more for you.”
The President said his government will not relent in its effort to improve the lives of people especially those in deprived communities.
He said the government is determined to ensure that the national cake is equitably distributed across the country.
