Ms. Anna Nyamekye, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in Charge of Livestock, has appealed to the chiefs and people in the Jaman South area to guard against practices that could cause bush fires in the area during the dry season.Speaking to the GNA in an interview, Ms. Nyamekye, who is the MP for the area, said no bushfires had been recorded in the constituency since 2001.She commended the district assembly, chiefs, opinion leaders, religious bodies and the citizenry for the good record and urged them to maintain it because the menace had caused famine and poverty in the area.Ms Nyamekye commended the efforts of soldiers deployed to assist fire officers and fire volunteers to check the incidence of bushfires in the area every year. She said patrols by the security personnel had been very helpful as cocoa trees that were previously destroyed had bounced back in communities including Atuna, Faaman, Nsuansa, Dwenem, Zezera and Kofiko.Source: GNA
