The Minister of the Interior has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfews imposed on the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township and their immediate environs for another week with effect from Monday, September 21.The renewal was on the advice of the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils, according to a statement signed by the sector Minister, Mr Cletus Avoka, on Tuesday.The statement said the curfew hours for the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township remained unchanged and would be from midnight to 0400 hours each day.The statement said: "The government wishes to commend the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders and the people for sustaining the peace in the Bawku Municipality over the last few weeks."Government continues to urge them to give peace a chance and to use non-violent means to resolve all conflicts that arise."Meanwhile, the government has reiterated that there is a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipal area, Zabugu, Binduri, Pusiga, Zoasi and Gushegu and their environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.Source: GNA/Ghana
