If there are several available means of one getting quality computer and Information Communication Technology (ICT) training for churches and schools in the rural areas of the country, then the mobile computer training services by Foundation for the Future Star Computer Mission, is one in the Upper East Region. In an interview with Upper East File, the Manager of the Mission, Mr. Frank A.K Sibiri, said the aim of the service was to take computer training to the doorsteps of the rural folks, through churches, schools, and organisations, irrespective of their locations. This would provide them with the required knowledge in the world of ITC, provided they met the basic requirements of taking part in the training. He explained that that these services were limited to churches, schools and organisations with a group membership of sixty and above. Mr. Sibiri further explained that whether a church, school or organisation, his outfit would first of all present a proposal with details of the programme to them, and when they agree with the terms of the proposal, they then pay a sum total of GH¢40 for the entire course. A deposit of GH¢20 was however allowed for a start. According to him, if any of the interested groups provided sixty-five and above names for the course, and they all participate successfully, they would be given a computer each, while eighty-five and above would be given a colour printer. He said other conditions were that the interested groups would help in providing residential accommodation, training grounds, and feeding for three instructors that would be allocated to each post, with ten computers, until the one-and-a-half months programme was over. Mr. Sibiri mentioned the Assemblies of God Churches at Aflao, Dzovze and Sogakofe respectively, the Word Miracle Church International at Dzorwulu, the Roman Catholic Church at Hatsukofe, and Apostle Revelations Society in Tadzvo, all in the Volta Region as the beneficiaries. In the Upper East Region, the Zuarungu Catholic Church, Zuarungu Senior High School, and Zoko Catholic Church were all beneficiaries of the programme. The manager said the programmes that being run included, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, introduction to computers, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft DOS.
