One person has been confirmed dead, with one other person in critical condition, following a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor at Fufulso Junction in the Savannah region.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when armed robbers reportedly pounced on the vendor.
According to reports, the assailants opened fire during the attack, shooting the vendor and a passerby who was returning from the hospital. The two were rushed to the hospital, but the vendor died on the way, while the passerby remains hospitalised.
It was later revealed that the passerby who was hit by a bullet was a patient who had been on admission for five months and had just been discharged.
The attack has heightened tensions in the community. Later in the night, some youth in the area reportedly set fire to several homes of residents in Fufulso.
Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence. Authorities say officers are maintaining a presence at Fufulso Junction to ensure that lives and property are protected.
Residents have been urged to remain calm as investigations into the robbery and the subsequent disturbances continue.
