Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has expressed confidence in securing convictions in the high-profile corruption case involving former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng.

The couple, together with two other defendants — Mildred Donkor and Advantage Solutions Limited — have been formally charged with 11 counts of corruption-related offences, involving several millions of Ghana cedis.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, April 30, Dr. Ayine stated that the charges were the result of diligent and comprehensive investigations carried out by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), under the leadership of Mr. Raymond Archer.

“With particular reference to the case and the review, the diligent investigations by EOCO give me a high level of hope and confidence that, all things being equal, I will obtain convictions on most, if not all, of the charges that I have preferred today,” Dr. Ayine stated.

He highlighted the weight of the evidence amassed so far, citing detailed bank statements, deposit slips, cheque numbers, and first-hand testimonies from individuals with intimate knowledge of the alleged transactions.

“Primary persons who were close to the action have agreed, after interrogation, to testify in this matter,” he added.

The Attorney General also defended the purpose and timing of the press conference, which some critics have questioned, suggesting it may have had political undertones.

“Let it be known that unlike some presidents in the past who were misled, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is on top of his brief and cannot be misled,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Mr Adu Boahene and his wife have denied all charges in the case involving GH 49 million (approximately $7 million) in alleged fraudulent contracts.
