A mother and her daughter have been arrested by the police over the death of a 17-year-old girl at Ntobroso near Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.
The deceased, Margaret Osei alias Akosua Serwaah, reportedly died six days after she had been beaten up by the suspects, Akosua Addai, 40, and Ama Dapaah, 22.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Fosu, the Nyinahin Police Commander, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said Margaret had made a complaint of assault against the two at the Adiembra Police Station on December 28, last year.
She was issued with a police medical form to attend the Nhyinahin Government Hospital, which she did, and had been treated and discharged by the doctors.
The Commander said on January 2, her health condition suddenly worsened and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
