Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been slapped with a two-match ban from the Spanish football authorities following his eye-poking action against Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova.
The disciplinary committee of the Spanish football federation (RFEF) pronounced their decision on Wednesday afternoon after looking through all the evidence gathered before them.
Mourinho was accused of poking Vilanova in the eye during Real Madrid's 3-2 defeat in the second leg of the Spanish Supercopa at Camp Nou in August.
The Portuguese was caught on camera poking Vilanova during an ugly brawl which marred the season's second Clasico.
A bad tackle from Marcelo on Cesc Fabregas provoked a confrontation between players and coaches from the two rival clubs and Mourinho got involved.
And he has now been handed a two-game suspension from competition judge Alfredo Florez. Mourinho was also fined €600 for his actions, while Real Madrid received a €180 sanction.
The punishments will see Mourinho banned for Spanish Supercopa games, not matches in La Liga or the Copa del Rey.
As for Vilanova, he faces a one-match ban and he has also been fined €600. Barcelona received a €90 penalty.
