The Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra Region last Monday escaped what he says was an assassination plot by unknown men at his residence at Baatsona, in Accra.
Narrating the incident to Joy News, the MP, Abraham Nii Laryea Odai said four masked men broke into his house around 1a.m. and asked for him.
He said he was lucky to have heard bits of their conversation which concluded that he should be killed ‘one touch’ and without mercy. He therefore took a cue and escaped into nearby homes.
Abraham Nii Laryea Odai said an attempt by his brother to get policemen at the Nungua Barrier to his rescue met with an excuse that only two policemen were on duty at the time and would therefore not be able to respond to the call.
(You can listen to the MP tell his story in the attached audio.)
This is the 7th MP to have been attacked by armed men. The recent attack on the MP for Lawra Nandom, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor reignited the debate for public office holders to be given personal security.
