The Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Mr. Owusu Agyei has paid a working visit to his constituency to hand over a 14-unit flush toilet to the Winneba Secondary School in the Central region.
The water closet, which was built for the girls' dormitory, was estimated at about GH 40,000 (400 million).
According to Mr. Owusu Agyei, who is also the Deputy Minister of Health, he decided to use part of his MP's common fund to put up the toilet because of the large intake of girls in the school.
Addressing the students, he said it was the government's objective to increase girls' access to education and get more of them educated.
He commended the girls for their good academic performance and urged them to keep it up.
He assured the students that he would contact the Ministry of Education to see how best infrastructure in the school could be improved.
The MP advised the students to help maintain all the facilities in the school.
The Headmistress, Mrs Cecelia Kwakye Cofie expressed her gratitude to the MP for fulfilling a promise made to the school.
She said the school needs a bus, extra classrooms, additional teachers and their flats and appealed to the MP to do all he could to assist the school.
