Member of Parliament for Bodi Constituency in the Western Region, Sampson Ahi, has expressed appreciation to President John Mahama for inspiring the Black Stars.
Ghana secured an emphatic 5-0 victory against Chad in their FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying series at the Accra Stadium before traveling to Morocco to defeat Madagascar 3-0.
Winning both fixtures means Ghana now sits atop Group I with 15 points, ahead of Madagascar, who have accumulated 9 points, followed by Mali, Comoros, the Central African Republic, and Chad, respectively.
Ghana failed to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted in Morocco, and has struggled in recent times.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Sampson Ahi expressed gratitude to the president for his goodwill message to the team before they began their matches.
“We all know that in this country, politics has divided us, the only football that brings us together. That is why we have to commend the Black Stars for bringing football alive again in this country,” he said.
“Mr. Speaker, I’m particularly happy when I saw the president, President John Dramani Mahama, before the match with Chad Republic. President Mahama visited the team,”
“If you listen to the fatherly advice that he gave to the players, the inspirational advice that he gave to the players, that President Mahama gave to the players, Mr. Speaker, what we can only do is to say a big thank you to Mr. President for that
inspirational message he gave to the team, which has resulted in scoring eight goals in two matches.”
Ghana will participate in a four-nation tournament in the UK, scheduled for June.
