Former chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration Kwadwo Mpiani has paid glowing tribute to the late Dr PV Obeng who died Saturday.
A grief-stricken Mpiani told Joy News Ghana has lost a "great man, "a "great person" who was not "too partisan."
The chairman of the National Development Planning Commission died Saturday after a pronounce asthma attack, it is suspected.
He was said to have collapsed behind his steering wheel just around the Agape filling station at Spintex, Accra and was rushed to the Lekma Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Municipal Health Director at Lekma Dr Leticia Wiafe told Matilda Wemega of Multi TV, Dr Obeng was brought to the hospital in a taxi.
The taxi driver reportedly saw Dr Obeng's car parked in the middle of the road and decided to check and find out what was happening. He was said to have found Mr Obeng's head bowed behind the steering wheel.
He quickly rushed him to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
In a tribute Kwadwo Mpiani said PV Obeng, as he was affectionately called, had the ability to reach to other people beyond his political party.
"We don't have too many of such people in Ghana," he noted.
The Chief of Staff under the Rawlings led regime Nana Ato Dadzie was also grieved by the death of his compatriot.
He described him as a "leader", a "mentor", a man whose death "marked the end of an epoch."
