Ashanti region has had moments of joy and life enriching experiences in a week-long event to celebrate the maiden edition of MTN AshantiFEST.
The socio-economic festival afforded subscribers of the leading mobile telecom network and other residents in the region a platform to share quality moments with families and loved ones.
A retailers’ forum offered a platform for traders to increase business opportunities in marketing MTN products and services, whilst the MTN Foundation commissioned its second ICT Center of Learning in a local community to help improve teaching and learning.
Families joined the Akyeampenhene, Oheneba Adusei Poku and MTN officials in a health walk, after commissioning a customer service centre at the Nhyiaso Office of MTN.
They later converged at the Ridge Park in Kumasi for a kenkey party and defied a heavy downpour to share in the fun of a family jamboree to climax the AshantiFEST.
Activities included musical chairs, five-aside-soccer, tug-of-love, horse riding, dance and rap contests, bouncing castles, snooker and table tennis.
It was a spectacle to behold as the true oldies dominated the family games.
Teams from MTN and the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) locked horns in the five-aside-soccer. MTN won by 3:2 but team MGL revenged in the Tug-of-Love contest, by pulling the telecom giants mercilessly through the muddy turf.
The beauty of traditional kente weaving and performances of the Flavour Dance Theatre showcased the rich culture of the Ashanti Kingdom. Wofa K of popular TV show and his crew also put up a play to excite patrons of the jamboree.
The live band music provided an impetus for some of Ghana’s artistes, including Okyeame Kwame, Samini and Kwaku Gyasi to thrill families with popular tunes like ‘Linda’ and ‘Sweet Mistake’ and ‘Faithful’ at the jamboree.
Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Michael Ikpoki, says the festival is in appreciation of the continuous support of the region to the growth of the telecom company.
Organizers believe the program will live on the minds of people in Ashanti till the next event holds.
AshantiFEST was powered by the Multimedia Group Limited, led by Luv Fm and Nhyira Fm in Kumasi.
