MTN Ghana, the nation’s leading telecommunications company has reaffirmed its commitment to combating MoMo fraud—a persistent challenge that has plagued the service.
During a ceremony held in Ho on Thursday to commemorate the 15 anniversary of the innovative service, Peter Bimpeh, Senior Manager for the South and East regions, emphasized the significant impact that MoMo fraud has had on both the company and its customers.
"Over the years, MoMo fraud has harmed our services and undermined the trust of our valued customers," Bimpeh noted.
He highlighted MTN Ghana's ongoing efforts to address this issue, including substantial investments in fraud prevention and detection technologies. However, he stressed that the fight against fraud is far from over and called on MoMo subscribers to be vigilant in safeguarding their account details.

"We are passionate about tackling this menace head-on," Bimpeh stated. "But we cannot do it alone. We urge all our customers to take personal responsibility by protecting their account information and staying informed about the latest fraud tactics."

MTN Ghana's MoMo service, which has revolutionized financial transactions in the country since its inception, continues to play a crucial role in driving financial inclusion and economic growth.
As the company looks forward to the future, the battle against MoMo fraud remains a top priority to ensure the security and reliability of its services.
The 15th-anniversary celebration is not only a time for reflection on the achievements of MoMo but also a moment to reinforce MTN's commitment to customer protection and the ongoing enhancement of the MoMo ecosystem.
