Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho could not hide his joy at Sulley Muntari's performance on his return from injury on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was thrown in the deep end just two days after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out for two weeks.
He defied the odds even when he was played in the defensive midfield position to help Inter Milan beat Palermo 2-0 even though he is an offensive midfielder.
The Portuguese and former Chelsea coach praised Muntari's overall contribution.
"I'm satisfied with Muntari, who wasn't playing in his position, but he did a great defensive job today and contained Liverani who is an important player for Palermo's tactics," Mourinho said.
Despite returning from injury, Muntari will not be available for the Black Stars when they take on Tunisia on Wednesday.
He has been given time by Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac to help him maintain his position at Inter Milan and also aid his recovery.
