The father of ace music producer, the late Prince Dave Affotey Laryea a.k.a. Apor has discounted rumours making the rounds that his son was poisoned. According to Nii Otu Akwetey Laryea IX, his late son was not someone who drank alcohol when he was alive, hence could not have been poisoned through drink. Nii Otu was speaking to P&P interview at the family house at Ahiam-Katamanso. “I wish people would not drag the name of my son in the mud. I believe in God Almighty who gives and takes. I believe the death of Prince Dave is the will of God and not the will of any man”. Just before his death Apor had gone round as usual to check on his group of companies without any signs of illness but had a sudden attack later. He was rushed to the SSNIT hospital where he died a few days after. Apor’s sudden death came as a big shock not only to his family but also to his colleagues, which Nii Otu explained might have triggered the rumours of poisoning by his fans. A street carnival was held in his honour at Nungua prior to his burial where various artistes on the Prince Dave Records mounted the stage to sing for their departed colleague and producer. Before his untimely demise, Prince Dave produced some of the country’s sensational hiplife artistes including Buk Bak, 4×4, Pope Skin, Castro Da Destroyer etc. Source: P& P
