The Managing Editor of the Al Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has made a clarion call to Ghanaians to sympathize with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo rather than condemn him.
“Nana Addo should be seen as a victim. There has been so many conspiracies played out against him which would make it difficult for him to lead this country” he said.
Alhaji Bautre observed that the desperation of NPP flag bearer to become president was very visible in his recent comments at the Africa Conference in Germany and that he should be pardoned for making such blunders.
Nana Akufo-Addo, after coming under scathing criticisms from members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over his purported comment about the high stakes of next year’s elections, has promised Ghanaians to bring the Better Ghana Agenda espoused by the NDC to life.
Nana Akufo-Addo said under his presidency, Ghana would be a first class nation with a better standard of living devoid of hardships.
However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Alhaji Bature said Nana Akufo-Addo is in a state of despair in his failure to emulate his late father who was Ghana’s ceremonial president in the Busia regime.
He added that since the NPP flag bearer lost the finest opportunity to achieve his life ambition as president in 2008, “he has never been himself”.
Alhaji Bature stated that Nana Akufo-Addo's plight has been worsened with what appears to be a convention that whoever becomes president is given a two terms to enable him work efficiently - which puts him at a disadvantage in next year’s elections.
The Al Hajj editor noted that given the massive economic success chalked by the Mills-led administration, it is clear President J.E.A. Mills would win the 2012 elections to continue with the Better Ghana Agenda.
The NDC apologist asserted that Nana Akufo-Addo has now resorted to making unfeasible campaign promises.
He said if Nana Akufo-Addo does not win the 2012 elections, “politically, he is finished” and there is no way the NPP would elect him as their candidate in 2016.
