National Security will comply with a recommendation by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on the settlement of its indebtedness to some former operatives of the agency.
Deputy Information, James Agyenim Boateng, who disclosed this to Joy News, said National Security is prepared to act in accordance with any recommendation that will come from CHRAJ on the long-awaited benefits of retrenched employees.
This comes after aggrieved former National Security operatives who were asked to go home after the change in government stormed the premises of the National Security offices on Wednesday to demand their benefits.
Mr Adjenim Boateng said: “My understanding of the issue is that these are people who say they have petitioned CHRAJ. National Security has indicated it is ready and willing; they believe that they have acted…within the law [but] these people (ex-officers) think otherwise, hence their petitioning of CHRAJ.”
There was pandemonium at the National Security offices at Castle Annex when the ex-officials stormed there to demand their benefits.
Media men who were there to cover the event had their sounds deleted from their recorders by the security men.
However, the aggrieved former employees say CHRAJ has not been proactive in dealing with the matter.
