The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rounded up its campaign activities urging Ghanaians to safeguard the gains of the country by retaining it in Wednesday's polls.

At the Greater Accra Regional rally held at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra Monday, the party said it has provided the best leadership for the people of Ghana.

The NDC argued that through visionary projects undertaken by President John Mahama, the country is celebrated across the African continent.

 

'Ghana has been in safe hands under my watch' - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says he has provided the best leadership requires by Ghanaians for the past three and a half years.

He said under his watch as president, the nation has enjoyed stability and peace despite threats pose by certain forces.

"Ghana has been in safe hands under my watch as president," he said, adding the outcome of Wednesday's polls will determine whether the nation will move forward or backward.

This, he believes is the difference between him and his fierce contender, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo–Addo.

'NDC has done no wrong to be voted out' - Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says  the party has done nothing wrong for Ghanaians to vote it out.

Mr Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito said President John Mahama has spearheaded massive infrastructural development across the country.

‘We have not done anything wrong," he said, adding the NDC has not betrayed the trust of Ghanaians since it was voted into office.

‘Reject NPP change, Mahama has brought change’ - Vanderpuye

Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says the change promised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is already taking place in the country.

He says the NPP has been manipulating indigenes of the Greater Accra Region only to jilt them when they are voted for.

He cited late NPP Campaign Manager, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, former Speaker of Parliament, Peter Alajettey, former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh I. C. Ocquaye and former Attorney-General, Ayikoi Otoo to stress his argument.

“The NPP says they are bringing change; tell them we have seen the change,” he said, adding “Mahama has changed our living condition.”

'Mahama will lead Ghana to promised land' - Ofosu Ampofo

The Director of Elections of the governing National Democratic Congress says President John Mahama is the only person capable of improving the economic fortunes of Ghana.

Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo says the President has demonstrated over the past three and a half years that he understands the challenges of Ghanaians and has shown the commitment to resolving them.

“Under President Mahama, Ghana has been touted to be the fastest growing economy for 2017,” he said.

Earlier: NDC 'Transformation Agenda' campaign rally commences

The final campaign rally of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced at the Accra Sports Stadium, Monday.

The programme has been attended by thousands of NDC supporters, government functionaries, and party executives.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings is among a tall list of party bigwigs expected to address the crowd.

NDC flagbearer, President John Mahama will use the opportunity to make a convincing case before Ghanaians about why he deserves to be retained in office after Wednesday’s polls.

The NDC’s national campaign rally comes barely hours after the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) held its rally at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center in Accra, Sunday.

The NDC has argued it has delivered on key sectors of Ghana’s economy for the past three and a half years of President Mahama’s tenure, hence it deserves another chance.

The President has mentioned a plethora of achievements including the recently commissioned, Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Kasoa Interchange, completed 112 Community Day Senior High Schools (SHSs), and the creation of over 400,000 jobs in the country.

Considering his achievements, President Mahama said there is no need for Ghanaians to vote for the NPP.

According to him, voting for any of his political opponents in the coming polls will rob the country of the good things it stands to benefit from his government.
