The National Democratic Congress (NDC) polling station executives for Kintampo North are alleging that the chairman, secretary, and treasurer of the party underpaid them for their work during the December polls.

According to the spokesperson for the aggrieved agents Joenal Bang Yibil, the party executives hired the services of two persons each of the 143 polling stations instead of four persons supposed to be hired.

He said they paid GHC100 each to the two agents and kept the remaining GHC200 for all the 143 polling stations in the constituency. The polling agents were informed by agents from other constituencies that each polling station agent was given GHC400 and not GHC200.

However, upon inquiries from the executives, they admitted that the said amount was used for other purposes including paying transportation cost for students who came down to vote.

Mr. Joenal added that their checks revealed that the executives used their monies to pay themselves exgratia by the chairman, secretary, and treasurer.

He also added that once the two agents did the work supposed to be done by four people at each polling station, they deserve to be paid the total amount allotted for the said job.

The disappointed agents have, however, resolved to forcibly seize and auction properties of the executives to defray the debt owed them if they fail to pay them their monies within the week.

According to the spokesman, the actions of these constituency executives contributed to the loss of the party and "if care is not taken, we'll lose apathy of most of the polling executives because some of them have started resigning."

The constituency secretary Kafui Emmanuel, when contacted by Joy New's debunked the claim and added that he's not in the mood to respond to such issues on radio and "have a banter with them".

He was quick to add "that was the amount given them to pay the agents and if they think there's a special amount allocated for them, they can contact Asiedu Nketia for their monies".

He concluded that the agents can do their "worse" and that he has no time for their allegations.
