A Group of irate National Democratic Congress (NDC) foot soldiers are calling for the immediate resignation of Johnson Asiedu Nketia as General Secretary of the party.
They claim Asiedu Nketia’s comments on a wide range of issues as the party’s scribe had done more harm than good to the image of the party.
The NDC General Secretary, popularly known as ‘General Mosquito’, has incurred the wrath of the foot soldiers over his recent comments to the effect that he (Asiedu Nketia) will quit the party with his family if anybody contests Kwabena Adjei, the NDC National Chairman, in the party’s upcoming National Delegates’ Congress.
But the group of foot soldiers, in a statement titled, “Asiedu Nketia Must Resign”, and signed by four of its members— Thomas Kidivi, John Mpoah, Sampson Mfodwo and Redemer Gbesor — reminded the NDC scribe that he does not own the party.
“We want Asiedu Nketia to know that the party doesn’t belong to him at all. As he indicated sometime back that the party is not for the Rawlingses, he should know that the Rawlingses have more followers than him and his allies.”
According to the foot soldiers, Asiedu Nketia must “start packing from his office immediately because his wish would never be granted.”
“Asiedu Nketia, have you forgotten where you came from? How did you become the General Secretary? the NDC foot soldiers quizzed, adding that “Rawlings our leader made Kofi Portuphy to step down for you to become the General Secretary.”
The group also said General Mosquito and his executives have completely failed in their administration.
They claimed Asiedu Nketia is destroying the NDC and are optimistic the party will win more votes if General Mosquito is shown the exit from the party.
“If General Mosquito is not called to order but continues to issue this inflammatory statement, what would happen will not augur well for the NDC; we sense this danger,” the NDC foot solders warned
