The National Executive Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is meeting at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.
Officials say top on the agenda is an arrangement to choose a presidential candidate for the elections in 2012.
General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah told Joy News the meeting will be used as a platform to agree on the guidelines towards the presidential primaries.
He said this year will be used to conduct all internal elections ahead of the 2012 General Elections.
He said the party must have a presidential candidate by the first week in December this year as well as its respective parliamentary candidates.
