Irate youth of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Yendi have smashed the windscreen of the Constituency Chairman’s vehicle.
They were angry at him for daring to attend a meeting at the residence of the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive between National officers of the party and the Constituency Executive.
The meeting, which was to discuss matters relating to how to run the party in the face of mounting complaints from disgruntled and disenchanted party supporters, was originally scheduled to take place at the Yendi Community Centre.
But the MCE reportedly changed the venue of the meeting to his residence upon hearing that a case was going to be made for his removal from office by some youth.
Unhappy with the MCE’s decision to change the venue, the youth vowed to prevent the constituency executive from attending the meeting at the MCE’s residence.
The Chairman attempted to defy their edict and was taught a bitter lesson.
Joy FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent Mahama Shaibu reported that the angry youth had kept the constituency executive of the party under virtual house arrest.
