Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, flag-bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), celebrated this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr festival with Moslems in the Central Region.
Speaking to Moslems in the Zunnurain Central Mosque of Elmina Zongo, Dr Nduom called on them to ensure that 2008 is conducted in peace, harmony and happiness.
He said as Ghanaians would be going to the polls on December 7, it is imperative that no effort is spared to ensure a violence-free and peaceful election.
In this regard, he advised Ghanaians to unite and move the nation forward. “There is neither Ghana which is New Patriotic Party (NPP) nor New Democratic Congress (NDC), so we should all unite as one people to see this nation move forward”, Dr Nduom said.
Again, the CPP presidential hopeful asked the Moslem clerics to pray for him in his presidential ambition, admitting that it is only God who makes kings.
He expressed appreciation by thanking them for their overwhelming support which enabled him to become their representative in Parliament.
He therefore asked for their support by calling on the Moslem community to vote massively for him in his candidature to become the next president of the Republic of Ghana .
Dr Nduom promised to complete an ongoing junior high school (JHS) which he started in their community to raise the educational standard in the vicinity.
He intimated that under his administration, more schools with facilities such as toilets, libraries and science laboratories would be built across the length and breadth of the country.
He later introduced his successor, Mr J.B. Eshun, the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Komenda-Eguafo-Edina-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency, and urged them to support him in the parliamentary election. He said as someone who is God-fearing, humble, respectful, and hardworking and a family man, Mr Eshun when given the nod to represent them will execute his duties without fail.
According to Dr Nduom, the CPP has been on a resurgent and is poised to win the upcoming elections. He hinted that within two weeks time, the party will hold a mammoth regional rally in Cape Coast for every body to know that the CPP is in the election race to wrest political power.
In a brief remark, Mr Eshun wished them well in their celebration and enjoined them to extend to him the same support they gave to his flag-bearer when he wanted to become the Member of Parliament for the KEEA constituency.
He promised to continue to water the good seeds that his flag bearer has planted in their community to bear good fruits for the inhabitants.
On his part, Alhaji Yayah Shaffiq Abdul Rahman called on his people to support Dr Nduom’s presidential quest. He pointed out that Dr Nduom has assisted them in diverse ways and therefore there was the need to support him by voting for him on December 7.
He also prayed to God for his blessings and favours to be upon Dr Nduom as he embarks on his arduous task.
