The National Communications Authority (NCA) is introducing a new numbering plan in Ghana to conform to international standards, and this will result in new area codes as well as a new 7-digit fixed line phone number for everyone in Ghana – businesses and organisations as well as residential customers. This government-mandated change means that from 1st May 2010, all current Vodafone fixed line customers will have new 3-digit area codes as well as having their telephone numbers being extended to 7-digit numbers. This will apply to every single fixed telephone line in the country.
- For example, if you currently have an Accra or Tema area code of 021 or 022, this will be changed to 030.
- If you are in Kumasi currently with a 051 area code, this will be changed to 032. In fact, all of the Ashanti region will now use the 032 area code.
