The Nkroful Agric Senior School has received two mechanised boreholes from the Old Students’ Association of the school.
The donation was made in a bid to solve the school's water supply challenges.
“The student population has increased and the sources of water are very limited. So we decided to provide two mechanized boreholes for the student”, president of the Old Students Association, Peter Kojo Dick, said.
The school for several years has been battling a water challenge, causing students to walk miles before getting water to drink.
Some students disclosed that the situation poses a threat to their academic work as the time for studies is mostly compromised in the search for water.
The donation of the mechanised boreholes forms part of plans to give the school a facelift without turning to the central government.
The headmaster of the school, Kwame Wura, also revealed that the donation will improve sanitation in the school.
“In fact, sometimes we were worried about the kind of water our students are taking but you can see from what we drank that it’s potable water,” he said about the mechanised borehole.
Head Prefect of the school, Sarah Baffoe, thanked the donors on behalf of students and called for more support.
“Some students wake up at dawn and go to the class and learn but because of shortage of water they have to be moving up and down going to the teacher’s quarters. At times when they go there they will be punished but it is all part of school life,” she said.
