Nkulenu Industries Limited was one of the companies honoured at the maiden edition of the Ghana Made Products Awards 2013 held last Saturday, at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.
The company was honoured for two of its brands, Nkulenu bottled Palm Wine and Nkulenu Palm Soup Base. They were honoured due to their high quality products especially in the areas of preservation and packaging. Nkulenu’s bottled Palm Wine was awarded the Indigenous Product of the Year 2013 whilst Nkulenu’s Palm Soup Base was awarded the Lifetime Product of the Year 2013.
The Ghana Made Products Awards 2013 was an initiative of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFC), and was held under the auspices of the Ministries of Trade and Industry and Finance as well as the Ghana Standards Authority.
The awards and dinner night was held under the theme, “Patronising Ghana- Made Products, the Gateway to Economic Development”.
The awards ceremony was to celebrate the success made by some indigenous entrepreneurs in the small and medium Industries. It was also to expose their products to Ghanaians throughout the country and to promote, create awareness and build customer loyalty for the high quality products that could meet the challenges of domestic and International markets.
Other local products also honoured by the organisers included Latex Foam’s orthopaedic mattress, Duraplast’s Septic tank and Reroy’s 4.0mm conduit cable, M&G Pharmaceuticals’ Zintab 10mg/20 mg and Ezipen tablet, Special Ice mineral water, Neat Fufu and GIHOC’s Takai & Mandingo Bitters.
The rest of the products were Poly Tank, Everpack’s Akwaaba Tissue paper and Jumbo Kitchen towel, Central Wood Furniture, Accents and Arts metal balustrades & furniture, Interplast’s HDPE gas pipe and Qualiplast waste bins and multipurpose crates as well as Chocho Cream, Soap & Hair Food.
The Nsawam Cannery Pineapple Juice, Getrade Village Fresh Alata Samina, Agbeve Herbal Tonic, Nallem Afrocentric Clothing, Samba Shito in sachets 25g and Samba KFC Shito in sachet 12g. Hords Smart Look Spray Starch, Hords natural soyabetix, Msimps Hand bags, Horseman Men’s Shoes and Freehand Studio Paintings also were awarded.
The awards ceremony was sponsored by Global Access Savings and Loans, UT Bank, Ghana trade.gov.gh and Zoomlion Group. The media partners for the ceremony were China Central Television (CCTV Africa) Agoo Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Crystal TV, Daily Graphic and the Business and Financial Times.
