Executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region have scuttled a mock election to test the popularity potential flag-bearer aspirants.
The election was due to take place in the New Edubiasi Constituency in the region but the executive stopped it.
It was intended to test the strength of the lead contenders for the flag-bearership, Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr Alan Kyerematen.
But the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Fredua Anto, said the move was dangerous and had the potential to create problems for the party.
He said the concern of the party leadership in the constituency should be wrestling the parliamentary seat from the ruling NDC.
Mr Anto said once the party had not opened nominations for the flag-bearership contest, the exercise the New Edubiasi Constituency was contemplating was unnecessary.
