The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is demanding that the police administration clear about the charges preferred against the Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong and his whereabouts.
The party called off a news conference to react to the detention of the MP.
The leadership comprising the minority MPs, donned red armbands, and moved towards the offices of the Bereau National Investigation (BNI) and Police Headquarters.
Joy FM’s Seth Kwame Boateng who was with the procession of NPP gurus, reported that leaders of the party have asked their supporters to remain calm and desist from confronting the police.
NPP First Vice Chairman Fred Oware called on the security agencies to administer justice without any favour.
“…We expect all offending parties to treated equally and again if there is anybody who has also offended the law he should be treated as such,” Fred maintained.
Joy FM’s Anny Osabutey also reported that the party big wigs went to the offices of the BNI to secure bail for their colleague but said they were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile supporters of the MP in the Assin North district have hit the streets to protest the arrest and subsequent detention of Mr Ken Agyapong.
Joy FM correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko said the protestors, wearing red armbands paraded the principal streets of the constituency with placards which had inscriptions like: “Free Ken Agyepong now”, “Y’abre wo Uncle Atta”, “Wicked Asomdwoe hene” among others.
