The New Patriotic Party General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong is said to have been heckled by the party's security, the invincible force, Tuesday.

Agyepong walked out from a steering committee meeting after he received a writ challenging the decision by the party's National Executive Council to suspend the embattled Chairman Paul Afoko and he was booed afterwards.

The party's secretary who is seen as an ally to the suspended chair thought it was an aberration to be part of the meeting after he received the writ seeking an injunction on the party's decision to make Freddy Blay the acting chairman.

Joy News' Felix Akoyam who was present at the NPP headquarters said Kwabena Agyepong's decision to recuse himself from the steering committee meeting was met with boos, insults and heckles, especially from the party's internal security.

Some members of the invincible forces did not understand how, out of a number of NPP National Executives, it was only Kwabena Agyepong who received the writ filed by three supporters of Paul Afoko.

According to Akoyam, the party's national executives who were present during the Steering Committee meeting were tightlipped on the matter.

They filed the writ in court to restrain the party from holding out [Freddie Blay] as acting chairman of the party and convening and attending meetings without the purportedly suspended chairman of the party (Chairman Afoko) being the convenor of the meetings.

They also want to restrain the defendants from taking decisions in any meeting not convened by Chairman Afoko, until this dispute is finally determined.

The applicants are Tweneboa Kodua Emmanuel, Stephen Owusu and Joseph Oppong, all from the Ashanti region.

They cited amongst others former President John Kufuor, NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, acting party chairman Freddie Blay as respondents.
