Mr Alan Kyerematen, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has observed that victory would elude the party in the 2012 polls if polling station executives were neglected. He said everything possible should be done to motivate polling station executives, who were at the grassroots with the people, to enable them to give of their best, during the electioneering campaign. Mr Kyerematen made the observation, when he addressed separate meetings of polling station executives of the NPP in four constituencies in the Greater-Accra Region on Wednesday and Thursday, as part of his tour to interact with party faithfuls in the region. The constituencies were Kpone-Katamanso, Ashaiman, Tema East and Tema West. Mr Kyerematen said his strength in the party depended on the polling station executives because they understood his cause, and assured them of his continuous support to enable them to work hard and bring the NPP back to power, come 2012. He urged members of the party to take the right decision by choosing the right presidential candidate: one who was electable, young, dynamic, energetic, and above all, one with vision, foresight and fresh ideas. Mr Kyerematen declared his intention to contest the party's presidential slot in July, and said the NPP needed somebody who would unify the rank and file, and even go an extra mile of attracting floating voters and even persuading members of other political parties to vote for NPP. He pointed out that one of the major factors that led to the NPP's defeat in 2008 was that, members could not tell the story of the achievements of the party. This time round, he said, members were not going to harp on the achievements of the NPP alone, but also, tell Ghanaians about the party's vision to usher the populace into peace and prosperity. Mr Kyerematen said all the efforts of the party would be in vain if members failed to put God at the centre of their campaigns. He said it was only God who chooses and enthrones a leader, no matter what efforts human beings make to be leaders. Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Mr Kofi Djamesi, Mr Yaw Buabeng-Asamoah and Mr Emmanuel Adjei-Boye, all leading members of the party, who accompanied Mr Kyerematen on his tour, took turns to address the polling station executives. They reminded the polling station executives that as "kingmakers" of the party, the right decision they make today, in voting for a right presidential candidate, would go a long way to return the NPP to power in 2012.
