The National Service Secretariat (NSS) has deployed more than 9,000 national service personnel in the Ashanti Region for the 2010/2011 year.
Mr Kwesi Quainoo, the Regional Director of the Scheme, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Wednesday that the personnel would serve in both public and private institutions.
He said the postings to the private institutions were based on request from those institutions.
He encouraged the service personnel to adopt good work ethics so as to contribute to productivity at their work places.
Mr Quainoo reminded them that those who refuse to do the national service after completion of higher education would be sanctioned.
National service, he said, is a legal requirement.
He called on heads of institutions where the personnel had been posted to help them secure decent and affordable accommodation.
