Police in Teshie Nungua Estates in Accra are on the lookout for two suspects noted for robbing residents in the area.
In just one month, the robbers armed with machetes and guns attacked five people including four Belgian nationals who are women.
Reports say they carry out their operations on motorbikes.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly, William Cecil who has witnessed two of such attacks told Joy News the recent one took place near the A-Life junction last Sunday.
He said the robbers pounced on a young man with their machetes and robbed him off his belongings.
He said attempts by onlookers, including himself to blow an alarm, proved futile as the robbers turned their anger on them.
Similar incidents have been reported in other parts of Accra.
But a statement released by the Greater Accra Regional Police Command says crime rate in the capital over the last two weeks has reduced.
The Greater Accra Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Cyprian Zenge told Joy News’ Israel Laryea their attention has been drawn to the robberies and are doing everything possible to track down the perpetrators.
That however does not rule out the fact that robberies have relatively decreased in the Greater Accra Region in the past two weeks, he said.
