The National Council of Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) has appealed to Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo to accept the will of the electorate to forestall peace and democratic order.
They contended that a continuous stalemate in the crisis could lead to escalation of unrest with its ripple effect of influx of refugees into Ghana with its drastic consequences.
The Council made the appeal in a communiqué issued at the end of the Fourth Quarter Meeting held in Accra.
It called on the Government of Ghana, a close neighbour and ECOWAS, to urge the parties involved to enforce the resolution adopted in Abuja, Nigeria.
On road safety, the communiqué urged Government, the National Road Safety Committee, and other stakeholders to intensify efforts to ensure safety on the roads to prevent avoidable accidents during the Yuletide.
The Council expressed appreciation to the efforts being made by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to migrate nurses and midwives to the SSSS. The statement, however added, “The pace at which it is moving is rather slow. We therefore urge the Government and FWSC to expedite action to ensure a speedy and successful migration.”
The Communiqué wished all nurses and midwives and the nation a Merry Christmas and Prosperous Happy New Year and urged all members of the Association to work hard to improve the health needs of the people, advising all clients to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
