Nyaho-Tamakloe: I am no thief at all

New Patriotic Party founding member and firebrand, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is counseling his critics to do a little more research before they falsely malign him and throw dust into the eyes of the public. Responding to a caller’s claims on Adom FM’s Edwaso Nsem morning show Wednesday, that he Nyaho and others were being ungrateful to former president John Agyekum Kufuor after he handed them appointments in his administration and during which they gathered properties, Nyaho said far from being the truth, the caller appeared to be ignorant of what he sought to put across. Nyaho was first made a chairman of the Ghana Football Association before being appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to Serbia during J.A. Kufuor’s second and final term in office, and Nyaho’s accuser believes ‘big’ cars driven by Nyaho were acquired during the term but he has now turned round to oppose Kufuor as the NPP seeks a flagbearer for Election 2012. Nyaho and others believe that in keeping with a trend in the party Kufuor must endorse Nana Akufo-Addo as the next flagbearer to douse a raging bickering in the party which presently threatens its unity. Many still link the former president to the camp of Alan Kyerematen in the latter’s desire to lead the NPP, but Kufuor has made no more public comments on the matter since February ending when he pledged to work with anyone who emerges victorious from the party’s primary to elect a candidate. Nyaho reiterated that he is a self-made man who acquired his properties largely outside of politics, and while he was ambassador, his salary could never have afforded him the luxury car his accuser complaints of. He said it would have been evident now if he stole any money from the state while he served as ambassador. He said he ‘ordered’ the car while he served as ambassador but he acquired it with his own money. Besides acquiring his first house at the age of 29, Nyaho said he has other properties at prime locations in the capital from which he earns substantially. Nyaho emphasized why he thinks Kufuor has a critical role to play in the party’s campaign to regain power, cautioning also that it would be disastrous for any to underestimate Kufuor’s clout and importance in the party and urged him to act to keep the party united.
