The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kade, Ofosu Asamoah has blamed some members of the National Democratic Congress for idolizing former President Rawlings and his family, thus making it difficult for them to see any faults from him. Mr. Ofosu Asamoah told Adom News virtually worshiping former President Rawlings, has been the major cause of the internal conflicts in the NDC. The MP said most people in the NDC are afraid to point out his mistakes to him even when his decisions do not help the interest of the party. He said some NDC members worship the former President and founder of the party as if he were Jesus Christ. He stressed that giving him accolades such as “father, founder and one and only,” make Mr. Rawlings feel he is immortal. Mr Ofosu Asamoah noted that former President Rawlings has never believed in democracy and accused him of always wanting things to be done his way. He said persons such as the Member of Parliament for lower Manya Krobo, Micheal Teye Nyaunu, Sekou Nkrumah and Dr. Nii Josiah Aryeh who in the camp of the Rawlingses, are unfortunately caught up immortalizing him (Rawlings). Mr. Ofosu Asamoah accused the former President of attempting to rule the country once more, through his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings who is contesting President Mills for the NDC flagbearer slot in July. According to him, since the constitution does not permit Jerry Rawlings to contest any elections in Ghana again, he is trying to use his wife to indirectly rule the country. He asserted that a vote for the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is a vote for Jerry Rawlings to rule the country again through the back door. Story by Samuel Mantey/Adom News/Ghana
