One person has been killed in a dispute over a parcel of land in Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
Another person remains in critical condition following the bloody Saturday clashes.
A source close to JOYNEWS has disclosed the dispute was caused by a misunderstanding between two groups who are claiming ownership of the land.
The Kluma and Awlime communities have been at each others throats over the ownership of the said land. The case has been in the Kpando Magistrate Court for over three (3) years.
He said Chief of Kluma, Torgbui Kponokorsi, sent some people on a sand winning mission on the said land, an action that displeased the other faction.
An angry Togbe Dodzi who heads the other faction sent his Stool-Father, Ebenezer Atsu, the deceased and others to stop the other rival group from carrying out the activities.
But the emissaries including an Asafoatse, Jonas Atsu were ambushed by some persons and violently attacked when they reached the scene.
A former Assembly Member of the area who pleaded anonymity said the deceased was clobbered with machetes and other weapons by persons from the other group.
Mr Atsu lost his life while his brother Jonas Atsu was left in critical condition and on admission at the Akosombo Hospital.
The motor rider who transported them to the scene also suffered a minor injury.
Juapong Police have deposited Mr Atsu's body at the Peki Government Hospital morgue pending autopsy and further investigations.
