The police administration says its vigilance and stringent measures led to the arrest of three persons involved in police recruitment fraud over the weekend. Inspector Senyo Ameyaw, a laboratory technician at the Police Hospital, Faustina Kuma, a civilian employee at the Police Headquarters, and Sylvanus Kuma, a National Security Secretariat operative were arrested at the Police Hospital. They were reportedly charging a fee of between thousand Ghana cedis and two thousand five hundred Ghana cedis. They were arrested when they gathered about 105 prospective recruits to undergo medical screening as part of the recruitment process. The police have also arrested the prospective recruits to assist in investigations. Speaking to Joy News, Acting Public Affairs Director, DSP Cephas Arthur said they gathered information from numerous sources which led to arrest. According to him, the Police had finished its recruitment and the selected recruits were being prepared for their medicals. He wondered how some victims of such fraudulent acts will fall prey to such “common place” tactics, adding the vigilance of the police has been crucial in sealing the loopholes for such fraudulent activities. “It is because the police is vigilant and we have decided to strengthen the various measures and make it stringent that we have been able to identify this kind of fraudulent attitude. “I think it is the credit to the police that we have been able to identify this people and made an arrest,” he said. He said the police have commenced investigations into the matter warning the police will deal ruthlessly with people caught in fraudulent acts and all accomplices.
