Parents have been asked to invest in the education of their children, including Information and Communication Technology training, to enable them to acquire skills and knowledge required at the labour market.
Mr Anthony Agyemang, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Kwanwoma, who made the call, also appealed to individuals and organisations to support government in creating conducive environment for academic work.
The DCE was addressing a parade of school children to mark Ghana's 53rd independence anniversary on the theme "Investing in the youth for a better Ghana", at Foase.
Mr. Agyemang appealed to the youth to be disciplined, honest, respectful, patriotic and shun violence and other social vices.
He said the district would soon receive its share of free exercise books and school uniforms provided by the Government, for distribution to needy school children.
