Residents of Mankessim (Esikafo Amba Ntem) in the Mfantsman Municipality of the Central Region are fervently preparing to stage a massive demonstration against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Ken Kelly Essuman.
The residents claim he has failed to address sanitation problems in the Esikafo Amba Ntem community.
They say they have been to the assembly several times but each time they do not get the assurance that the situation will change.
A dumpsite in the centre of the community continues to expose residents to health risks.
Landlords are complaining that their properties have become idle due to the siting of the dumpsite and its associated problems.
Residents say the Municipal Assembly has not done anything about the situation.
They explain that the powerful stench and the floating plastics from the dumpsite are a major source of concern.
Meanwhile, Municipal Chief Executive of the Mfantseman, Ken Kelly Essuman, recently said the Assembly was working to relocate the site.
According to him, the residents have refused to register with the waste management companies to take care of their waste but chose to dump their refuse anywhere.
However, the residents also said a waste management company came to them two years ago to register them but has since failed to provide them with waste bins.
