Resource persons on Asempa Fm’s Sports Morning Show on Thursday called on the coach of the Black Stars to explain his call-ups to the team.
Goran Stevanovic omitted names such as Andre Dede Ayew and Richard Kingson from the squad for the upcoming African Nations Cup qualifier and international friendly games of the Black Stars, with Sudan and Nigeria respectively.
But the astute panel on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show comprising of Kofi Appiah, Coach Isaac Opeele Boateng, Prof. Kofi Amponsah and Maxwell Asabre opined that Coach Goran “Plavi” Stevanovic should cultivate the habit of defending his call-ups as it is done elsewhere.
According to them, this will help put doubting minds to rest after any call-up into the Black Stars is made.
They added that this will also give the coach the opportunity to answer questions that linger on the minds of certain players who have been called to don the national colours.
The panel consequently called on the GFA to make room for this sort of discourse which will help defuse the suspicion on national team call-ups.
