I've seen God take me through phases
I've felt his hand upon me through the stages
I've seen him break me, take me and mold me
I've felt him prune me, shape me and use me
And so has man tried to define me
Society and life still trying to refine me
They set the standards
Exercising its franchise
With a status quo defining our price tag
They tell me who I am
Based on what to them I'm not
I tell them my time will come
They tell me it's either now or not
Who I am
Not meeting man's standard doesn't change
Who I am
Man can choose to agree or not
But I know who I am
Who I am
Is beyond my outlook
And it's above your yardstick
Yes I know you see me
But there's a me within me
And if you'd look beyond what you want to see
You'll indeed get to know
Who I am.
