CONSCIOUS OF MY BEAUTY
Am I able to tell that I am beautiful?
When my vision no longer sees my amusements
Can I recall my speech or is it my throatI hear in despair
Am I conscious of my beauty?
Twisting my tongue behind the walls of my teeth
Risen eyebrows in awe
Brighten by the sunshine of my face
Am I conscious of my beauty?
Having nothing to hold or weaves to hide
When my hair is forced to sweep my back untied
Do I have a glimpse of such splendour?
A conscious tone of my beauty
The sweet of my lyrics spoken
The chills of my touch lean felt
The humour and laughs only called to life
Am I conscious of my beauty?
Revelations canning mirror's lie
The shape of my listening ear, the taste of my lip tip
A peep of my rough edges on settled reflections side by side
Am I conscious of my beauty?
Wait!It isn’t the strokes of pencils or shades of colours
Stripping off every tattered thought
And dancing towards splashes of raindrops
Am I conscious of my beauty?
The sweet nectar of my skin, and the steam of my breath
The stretch marks on my behind I strained to sight
And tucking every last flesh into my bra
Am I really not conscious of my beauty?
I will wear a smile
Tickle my toes on the shores of love
And look to the heavens when my sun goes down on me
In the arms of nature;
I value my body, respect my mind and guard my soul with every bit in me
Because I am conscious of my beauty.
You should too.
