Today Nana Efua spreads love!
She takes us through the ups and downs as well as the wonders of this universal emotion. Stringed together with her signature free-verse style, this poem is effused with essensce of the subject she writes about -- love! Enjoy.
LOVE!
Love, love, love!
Simple yet puzzling feeling
That affects, changes the chemistry of our very existence
Love
Sweet, soft, sensual
Yet steaming, intense and fierce!
Love,
Expressed in simplicity
Evokes the strongest of emotions in every human:
I care so much
I miss you
You are my world
I love you
Simplistic, but complex to break all barriers
And build broken bridges
Love speaks loudest but with few words
Love moves mighty trees with as little as a touch
Love – fills valleys with just little drops of passion
Love is so beautiful!
But I wonder, I wonder why, why it is so difficult to sustain it?
All too soon,
I care so much is an unspoken taboo
I miss you is a silent murmur
You are my world is a far-fetched thought
And I love you, is a forgotten phrase
Time creates distance
Too much energy emits agony
Space constricts freedom
And habits inconsistently establishes a constant character
And our lives become utterly shattered
Yet we fall in love
Again and again; over and over!
I wonder why?
Is it the pains?
Or the joys?
Or a blend of both?
I wonder?
Love!
Consciously and unconsciously affects our lives
And we love, love and love!
Nana Efua shares her inspiration:
We have all fallen in love before, either once, twice or multiple times, the feeling is always the same.
Often, loving is characterized by some sense of pain or unfulfilled expectation and we get hurt. The popular maxim, “only those close to you can step on your toes”, translated into love parlance that, “ only the ones you love and care deeply often hurt you the strongest”, is an experience everyone who have ever been in a love relationship can relate to.
What makes love grow sour? Why do we run away from one relationship and start another? Why do we get hurt in love relationships? Yet most of us are not afraid to fall in love again, over and over again?
This poem explores some of the feelings of loving or being loved, the reasons we fall in love and the challenges experienced when in love.
Interestingly, in spite of all the hurts and pains, we continue to fall in love repeatedly, either over and over again with the same person or with different personalities.
Why have you fallen in love?
Have you experienced love’s pains and yet fallen in love again? Share your experiences for I have no answers!
