Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a man in possession of illegal arms.
Fatau Yakubu was arrested after he attempted to sell a pistol in Ekoase, a village near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
Upon further search of his residence police came across other ammunitions.
“When they arrested him they found on him a pistol with ten rams of ammunition and proceeded to his residence and searched the place too."
At his place, 7 rams of ammunition and a military bayonet were also found on the premises,” Chief Inspector Yeboah Nti Eastern Regional director of police public relations told Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh.
He suspects Fatau could be part of a syndicate.
According to him Fatau Yakubu could not explain how he came across the pistol and other ammunitions.
He is due for court next week and will be charged with unlawful possession of ammunitions.
