An unidentified man is in police grips in Takoradi, following an unusual confession that he engaged in internet fraud, popularly known as sakawa.
The man was said to have stripped naked and walked through the Takoradi Market Circle shortly after alighting from his posh Mercedes Benz.
A policeman who spoke to Joy News on condition of anonymity, said the suspect was heard screaming vows he will not engage in sakawa again.
He said several attempts to interrogate the suspect have proven futile, with suspicion that he might have gone dumb.
Joy News correspondent in Takoradi, Kweku Owusu Peprah said the suspect was yet to be identified.
“He appears a little bit dumb. He cannot speak, when you speak to him he either nods in affirmative or negative,” Peprah indicated.
He said the suspect might be taken through therapy, before investigations and possible prosecution.
The arrest of the suspect comes in the wake of gory reports of rituals said to have been performed by some youth who desire to get rich quick.
Unimaginable as it may be, some of the youth are allegedly made to sleep for days in a coffin, whilst others are warned not to have their baths for the period they enjoy their booty.
If they accept the conditions and perform the rituals, sources say they are able to ‘charm’ their clients mostly on the internet who then send them money at their beck and call.
